Bitcoin gets Saylor’s ‘closed doors’ tease after Strategy’s $22M buy
Oct 24, 2026
Michael Saylor has posted a cryptic message about resolving Bitcoin matters behind closed doors after Strategy disclosed a $22.1 million purchase funded largely through common-share sales.
In an Oct. 23 X post, Michael Saylor wrote, “Just resolving a few Bitcoin matters behind closed doors.”
The post includes a 14-second Matrix-style action video featuring Saylor but gives no purchase amount, transaction date, or financing details. It arrives before Monday, Oct. 26, following company disclosures on the previous two Mondays. Neither the caption nor the accompanying screenshot announces when Strategy will issue its next transaction update.
STRC repurchases exceeded Bitcoin spending
Strategy spent $193.1 million repurchasing STRC during Oct. 12–18, after spending $192.4 million during Oct. 5–11. The combined $385.5 million was approximately 8.8 times the $43.6 million allocated to Bitcoin over those weeks.
The company restated its STRC trading range objective of 99–100 over time in an Oct. 19 message. Its published policy describes regular repurchases below $100, while management has said it will not issue new STRC shares below that level.
STRC is Strategy’s Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock. The company’s Oct. 19 graphic listed a 12% dividend rate, semi-monthly payments and an Oct. 28 vote on daily dividends.
The board expanded the preferred-security repurchase authorization from $2 billion to $3 billion, including earlier purchases and related costs. Strategy reported $1.16 billion remaining under that authorization as of Oct. 18.
Separate cash accounts funded buybacks and dividends
Strategy’s capital framework distinguishes its USD Reserve, intended to support preferred dividends and debt interest, from general-purpose USD Cash used for Bitcoin purchases and capital management.
During Oct. 12–18, the company used $193.1 million of USD Cash for STRC
repurchases and $45.5 million from its reserve for preferred dividends. The reported closing balances were $447.3 million in USD Cash and $4.83 billion in the reserve.
A week earlier, Strategy reported $640.5 million in USD Cash and $4.88 billion in reserves. Comparing the rounded disclosures puts the cash decline at $193.2 million and the reserve decline near $50 million.
Item 7.01 of the Oct. 19 filing identifies Strategy’s website dashboard as a public disclosure channel covering securities prices, Bitcoin holdings, purchases, and company performance metrics. The filing encourages investors to review information published through that dashboard.
